Especially in terms of their backing the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which thanks to Barney Frank of Massachusetts, was written to be GAY ONLY, cutting out protections for the transgender/gender variant community.

Also, what are your reactions to the Hate Crime legislation (adding sexual orientation and gender identity) to the list of protections, and extending the current federal laws, BEING ATTACHED TO A MULTI BILLION DOLLAR military spending bill for more money for Iraq, and for recruitment.

The HRC is an advocacy organization working on behalf of affluent gay white men. And sometimes affluent white lesbians. That is their demographic. That is who they care about. And fcuk anyone or anything else that gets in the way of this, including people who are "too queer," the poor, queer people who aren't white, etc.

The recent EDNA thing might actually be a perverse blessing in disguise. Or at least, an example of vicious back-stabbing that serves a useful purpose. This is hardly the first time HRC has pulled crap like this, but it's probably the most visible and reprehensible example in the last few years. It has called attention to the HRC's hypocricy and willingness to sacrifice the rights and dignity of any group it doesn't consider it personally adventageous to be affiliated with.

The HRC is a corrupt, elitest organization that has unjustly claimed the position of being the poster child for queer rights. And they've not only sold out trans people in this most recent fiasco, through their elitism they've shat upon the credibility of queer rights organizations attempting to build bridges with other marginalized communities.

Edit:

In response to other posts - there's a huge difference between appreciating partial victories that lead to a greater goal, and short-sightedly and irresponsibley sacrificing the rights of other people in favor of your own.

The HRC does the latter. They really don't give a sh1t about people who aren't wealthy, who aren't white, or for queer people who aren't just gay. They aren't working towards everyone's rights - they are very specifically and exclusively interested in the rights of affluent gay white people, and fcuk everyone else. The poor, youth, sex workers, non-white people, trans people, etc - as far as the HRC cares, they can all go to h*ll.

Trans people got thrown under the bus. Joe S. was quoted as saying that they wouldn't promote ENDA without gender identity protections. About a month later, he goes back on his word. Human Rights Campaign is a horribly deceptive name. It really should be straight-acting, affluent, white men and women rights campaign.

Although you don't reeally care if I like you, I must tell you, my dear lunatic, that it is all politics. We have to take small steps to get to the top even if what we really want is a huge jump. Take example at our Constitution: how little of it is accepted, and to how few of us truly enjoy what it claims is our right.
Be patient, for it too shall pass.
