Yea, its weird but after its over you can never remember how the pain exactly felt. You remember you were in pain but can't put a finger on it. Until you have the second and that first contraction you remember and think...OH NO!!

It was HELL!!!! No medication and it also was not by choice...I was in so much pain in the end I was begging for a c-section just so they could put me under. If I were you, I would definately go for an epidural...you're awake enough to remember giving birth but you don't have to go through all the real pain. It was even worse since they don't even offer any kind of pain management here in China (where I've been living for the last 5 years) or anything...it's just like "it natural and good for you to feel pain". BASTARDS!!!! I'm now 28 weeks pregnant again and am planning on a 3 hour train ride when I'm ready to deliver just to go to a hospital that offers medication. So if you are planning more then one...I'd suggest the meds!

You should be nervous, it is a big thing to go through. You don't really forget it, it just seems to fade as time passes. Like all other types of pain one experiences in life. The moment you see your baby it is all worth while, that, in my opinion is why people say they forget the pain, because the joy is even more overwhelming than the pain.
Ignore ALL birthing horror stories, they will only scare you further.

I swore during labor with my daughter that I was never going to get pregnant again, I told my husband we would have to adopt, and I was dead serious!!!! When my mom whispered in his ear, I knew she was telling him how she said the same thing with labor with her first, and I told her "You dont get it, I'm serious". The next day, I told him I couldn't wait to see what our next baby would like, and here I am 24 weeks pregnant 2 and a half years later. You forget the pain, trust me. Although I remember what thoughts were going through my head, and how bad I thought the pain was, your brain does not have the capability of recalling what pain feels like. And of course on top of all that, the baby really is worth it at the end, like everyone says.
Of course I didn't have an epidural either, and if you get one of those right away, then you wont have to deal with the pain. I personally didn't want one, just had some Stadol through my IV to help relax me.

If you are talking about the delivery, I had an epidural so I cant say. But if you are talking about the aching legs and feet, the sleepless nights, the back aches etc, I dont know if you forget it, but you do tend remember it with less vividness it as time goes by. Think of all the women who have more than one baby. If the pain was that horrible, there would only be single child families.

You remember the situation and that you were having pain, but I don't know a soul who said she would not have another child because the delivery was so difficult. I remember thinking of all the gazillion women from the beginning of time who have given birth. Some in elevators, or cabs, or even stage coaches. If they can all do it, so can you. You'll be fine and Congrats on the expecting of a son. It's amazing!!!!

I wouldn't say that you forget it, but it certainly doesn't seem like something that you wouldn't go through again.
During labour, focus on the moment at hand - remember that the sensation will pass. Take one contraction at a time & try to stay relaxed.
Congratulations on your pregnancy & good luck with the birth!

Well, I haven't had my baby yet either, but it doesn't seem like a woman forgets the pain. I've only ever heard that the pain was worth it, but when they describe the pain, even I cringe.

Its kind of like a dream. You know it hurt a lot but do not really remember it till you are giving birth again.
