The pharaoh was concerned with a prophosied leader being born to save the jews from slavery ( as in moses) is why he ordered them killed...The king involved with the slaughter of innocents in your saviors story ,was King Herod I / Herod the great...and he was a jewish king ,albeit a roman puppet,..if the slaughter ever actually even happend ( no historic basis for the story, outside of the gosphel ).he was concerned about a prophesied massiah causing uprising against his roman allies more than anything else.Herod I also was responsilbe for rebuilding the temple of jeruselem, among many other architechual projects..and was by historicaccounts, not religious myth, a fairly decent ruler and diplomat.

the pharaoh ordered the death due to a prophecy that a deliverer would come and set the Jews free from slavery . After Joseph died the Jews prospered in Egypt and the fear that they would take over the land as the did in others as gods chosen people so the Egyptians enslaved them and took the land and wealth they had acquired and around the time Moses was born the order was given to Murder every male child 2 years of age and under. So Moses was put into a basket and set afloat down the Nile were by Gods will he was taken in by Pharaoh's family and raised as one of their own.

because he did not want prophecy to be fulfilled.he took it literally that there would be a new King born,KING OF THE JEWS! he did not want to be deposed and thought he could change history by preventing our savior from growing up and overthrowing his worldly throne!!! he did not understand that JESUS was to sit on the right hand of GOD on the throne in Heaven.jealousy cause many horrific acts to be committed against innocence! but the pharaoh failed!

It was a form of racism. He felt the Egyptians were superiors. It was the Hebrew slaves who built the pyramids and sphynx.
