I need help with an idea for a tattoo, something small(ish), something "respectful", since I have to look at it every day.
It will be covering a small(ish) scar.

I know people say not to get one and if I had another way to get rid of this gastly scar, I would---surgery is to much money for my taste.
This will be on one of my boobs, upper left one, actually, it is more like on my breast bone.
This is something I can not look at every day for the rest of my life---with out going into great detail, I was "marked" by someone and now that it is all healed, I need it gone.
I thougth I could live with it but as weeks go by, I just can't do it.

As the proud owner of a tattoo... I must wonder first how old you and then then why you want a tattoo... if you are under 25 or so....PLEASE wait to get it... you change so much as you grow and what you like today may not be what you like in a year... I wanted one since I was about 15 and waited untill I was 32 to finally get it. I'm glad I waited. A tattoo should reflect who you are.. if you have to ask people here what to get.. I think you are not ready to get one... you will know what you want forever on your body when it is right for you.
Please think long and hard about doing it.

I have Phil Ochs tattooed on my arm (people singer) I even have "Never Die" and a rose tattooed throughout my ft, with a tigerbat above the ft on my left foot for Tiger Army. I see me getting a pair extra musician tattoos. I have an Ochs lyric tattoed around the again of my neck (Sacred are the scars) and an Op Ivy lyric around the insides of each hands (It's lovely I might say... I don't have it every other manner.) I'm considering a scorching-rod tradition tat, skulls and roses and a banner, gotta opt for the lyric to move within the banner regardless that. As it stands at present, I'd almost always pick "In dying as in existence, I will come up" or "My judgment of right and wrong incorporates the load of blood."

Ok. now! I have a tattoo and I am now 34. I friggin REGRET IT!!! not that I have a problem with tattoos. I am now "business" minded and I am in a corporate office. I have a big azz lioness on my left arm (leo). Well, because of my career, I have to wear long sleeves be it 90 degrees or 30. Be very careful where you get it because it can be the difference in being and executive or a beautician. I am not bad mouthing beauticians, i am just telling you that what ever you decide to become, consider whether a tattoo is in an appropriate location. No necks, lower arms, wrists, etc. Be sure that it can be covered. Bye the way, colorful butterflies are always lady like!
Take Care!

Finally! A good reason to want a tattoo!
I saw your Q and was all set to point out that practically NO one will be the same person all their lives, blah-blah-blah.... So, how about a peace symbol? It can be ANY size, and it's a simple, inofensesive design... Or maybe a five-point star? In a pretty color? Your initials??
Good luck. Hope it turns out very well, whatever you chose. }:>
Hey, I just read your other answers... FYI, for those of you who don't know... They are having very! good luck with lasers in removing the unwanted tattoos. They started a program here to help former ...ah... gang members remove somewhat tasteless remarks from hands, and like that.... Seems it will help secure employment with otherwise uncharmed employers. ;)

I have eight.
You want something that has meaning to you and not so small that when you get older it won't look too much like a blob of ink.
Do your best to make it something original-ish.
If you're interested at looking at my ink(though not the very bestest, I still love them), I have a link on my profile page.
Edit: And I disagree. LOWER BACK TATTOOS DO NOT A TRAMP MAKE!
I had one WAY before Owen Wilson and Vince Vaugn came out with Wedding Crashers, and I didn't hear it called a tramp stamp until then.
A tramp is a tramp with or without the tattoo. I am not in any way a skank...thank YOU very much, youngin.

ull need a touch up more than once.. id go with a unique design "not of something". i have a ''old wrought iron'' gate like design n gettin more to match over another scar. edit-- if u go to a wallpaper store n bring a piece of paper with a size cut out of it u can put it up to designs n see a part of it. it works! ''like a close up of somethin n u dont know what it is till u see the whole thing.'' ull get alot of ideas from them!! also if u type in-(pictures of tattoos) ull see alot n (pictures of butterfly tattoos) ull see a girl who has a vine up her side w/butterflies/dragonflies/ladybugs/rosebuds/raindrops etccc- she adds more all over her body n thats her theme. looks very pretty. (u can also ask for no black) ''i think it looks nice when its not outlined on femmy areas'' its a ''paint tattoo.'' edit-it didnt put in rosebuds-rain drops-ladybugs-thats weird

My guess, get your birth sign or a heart, or whatever fits you-or go to a tattoo shop & they'll help you out with pattern ideas (I have 8 large ones)

Think about for as long as you can and understand it will be there permantly unless you can afford laser surgery to remove it and which will still leave a scar, Tramp Stamps are skanky so please dont get one on your lower back.
