I have a Brazilian Rainbow Boa, lately he hasn't been eating. I feed him about once a week.

I tried to feed him last week on Saturday but he wouldn't eat. I was thinking it was nothing because he was shedding.

Then this morning I found all of his shed skin. Then I tried to feed him again and he wouldn't eat.

Now he hasn't eaten in 12 days. I have had him since September 20, of this year, so almost 3 months. He has always had frozen food, except when we first fed him, but the other times he always eats. He has one fuzzy.

I know snakes can go without eating, but it just makes me nervous and on edge when he doesn't eat.

Yeah, my Dad said that it could be because it the winter time, but I thought that was a stupid answer. But that was just because he said it.

I keep his temperature and humidity at about 80. He had coconut husk, and moss. He has this fake branch, his cave and his water bowl.

call the vet

I'd leave the vet out of the picture. It will cost you a lot of money. Attack this problem with research. Are your temps where they are supposed to be? Is the humidity at the right level? Does the snake have enough places to hide and feel comfortable? Is there increased traffic in the room where the snake is, causing him new stress? Figure out these things and give it some more time before you check the vet. Make sure your vet is qualified for exotics before you take it in there.

*A buddy of mine had an anaconda that didnt eat for 6-8 months and it just one day started eating. So dont worry yourself to death. All will be well. Give the snake a week or so before you try feeding him again. Definitely dont try everyday bc it is just stressin it out more.*

Snakes tend to slow down their eating during the winter months. Just make sure you thaw the frozen mice before you feed them to him. Other then that he should eat when he gets hungry, nothing to worry about. If you are really concerned you can find a good vet that works with reptiles and give them a call.

It could be from shedding, but it could also be caused by other factors. What is your setup? They like large enclosures as they tend to be active snakes. Temperature is very important as well. They require high humidity too. Many times husbandry (overall setup and care) is the problem when a reptile does not eat.

I would talk to your local vet about it and see what they think you should do
