doesn't matter ... I'm assuming you'll get something fairly high-end and it will depend on the graphics card ... personally I'd stick with a desktop and build and configure what I wanted/needed from scratch

Depending on what platform you'll be developing for, decide on operating system first. I use my Mac for most graphic work, but use a Windows desktop for development work.

You'll need processing power and RAM and a decent video card to do some hardcore work.

Look at the seperate components of a laptops and not just at the brandname, it doesn't always say much about the quality of the machine.

Apple makes great laptops (if you decide on Mac OSX). Sony makes good machines, Alienware (I think it's part of Dell now), Asus. Shop and browse around, most websites let you make 'builds' and see what price you come out to and what components you can get into the machine.

If you are a graphic designer you HAVE to get a Mac. Don't get a PC. Always use a make for graphic designing. The Apple laptop would seem like th ideal one to get, but it really sn't. It's to complicated and will slow you down. Make sure you have photoshop also.

I would get a powerful DESKTOP with high end parts.

For laptop, I would get the most powerful one I can afford.
