freedom of press says u can print anything as long as its true and doesnt hurt one's reputation, well how come tabloids are fake and are not true and dont get into trouble??!

Some tabloids have been sued and lost. Still they stretch the limit and hope they get away with it.

no, and additionally, as for libel/slander. the standards are much different legally for people in the public eye then for regular private citizens

No law against exaggeration, some stories are not verifiable.

Quite frankly, they can do it because they cite their sources, etc. They can document who said what and when. That's all you need to be able to do.
