Ram is memory .... and google Simms system requirements to find out how much you need ... I've found with the Simms you're better off with a dedicated graphics card ... depends on your motherboard and it's age as to what type of Ram you need ... I'd think it would be DDR but it's possibly DDR2 ...if it's an older computer it may be SDRam ... a computer shop will quickly tell you and Ram has become a cheap upgrade of late

EDGE 1GB PC2-5300 DDR2 667MHz 240-Pin Desktop Memory Module = This is 1 gigabyte of memory this is bigger
or this one
ACP-EP MEMORY 512MB PC2700 DDR 333MHZ 184-PIN PC & MAC Desktop Memory DIMM = This is a tottaly different kind of memory, this memory is older than the previous memory module. This one is 512mb Half the size of the Edge module.
Go to cosair.com or kingston.com I think they have a memory analyzer to check your system.

If you mail me the brand and model number I will tell you exactly what you need.
Still mail me.
I do use crucial memory but there are better and less costly brands out there..But i need the info i asked for....but at the very least you need to replace all the memory to avoid conflicts with the same brand...and max your pc out....not just to play the game but to up the perfomance

They both mean the same thing. you should look for the same type of ram you have now, since you know that your motherboard can handle that ram, but just get it in a bigger size. I have to do the same too. I will be getting 1 gb of ram and replacing my 2- 256 = 512 gb with those two new 512 gb sticks

Ram and memory are the same thing. It's usually pretty easy to change or add more. you do need to use the right type (example: PC5300 DDR2/667) but the manufacturer can vary. Check out the links for detailed info.

The first one says 1GB which means "1 Gigabyte." The second one says 500 mb, which is half as big. But you need to make sure the one you buy has the right number of pins to match your computer's motherboard.

Ram, memory, virtual memory all the same thing.
You basically need 256Mb of ram to run sims 2.
To find out what ram you need goto http://www.crucial.com to do a complete computer scan that tells you your exact ram type.

RAM is Random Access Memory.
some people use the term memory for their hard disc space which used to be called solid state or permanent memory.
