It's an old one called "when a stranger calls" it's in black and white and it's not gory at all but they describe things in such vivid detail that what you think in your mind is scarier than any slasher film could possibly be.

Just kidding. A film maker's belief's aside...

The Mist. It's still in theaters, but it's definitely the best movie i've seen in a while, let alone of the horror genre.

The Grudge and The Ring are good. Also the "the descent". There are a couple of Asian horror films that really scared me. The Grudge and The Ring are originally asian movies and asian versions are even more scary...you just have to read translations below to catch up though....

30 Days of Night scared me a little bit. Oh the Shining is good too. I don't scare easily either.

Silent Hill, most definitely. Even for a movie loosely based on a video game, it was really, really good. Very creepy and intense, with a great story.
