Probably gear..but as I get older I tend to refer to it as my crap.. "I have my hockey crap in the back of the car"

Both...I would say the "uniform" would be the jersey (sweater) and socks (leg sweaters) and anything else that would indicate what team you are on and the protective crap underneath (shoulder, elbow pads and shin guards), skates could be either called gear, equipment or crap. Gloves and helmet could be either uniform or gear etc. per that definition.

Either is perfectly acceptable. However the shirt should always be called a sweater, never a jersey.
