Some people are not truly afraid of death, but afraid of the unknown. My biggest fear is to be buried alive. I ask for honesty. So what is your biggest fear?

Three years ago, I lost my fiance` to the d@mn war. Since, my biggest fear is losing the people I care about without getting to say goodbye.

Before that, it was simply leeches. Stupid bloodsuckers getting under my skin--it all started with "Stand By Me", when he is in the river. *shudder* I watched that when I was about 5 and it has affected me ever since.

Fear for me is an emotional response to danger. So I am afraid of fear because Danger is near and may poof me out of existence. I'm not sure that we can fear for long. People who jump off a, say 10 story building, feel no pain when they spalt on the pavement. The body releases chemicals that numb the body and mind from pain.

Yes, being buried alive. To the point I can break out in a sweat just thinking about it. To drown is almost as bad.

And then there is the fear of dying and not having been loved.

Ignorance

For it is the cause of fear.

SophiaSeeker I would have liked to have sent you this by email, but you are not open to communication.

Apathy is an old word and did not always have the meaning that you are thinking of.
Try the Roman Stoics
http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/stoicism/
and you will need no fear of apatheia in it's true sense.

My biggest fear is getting my fingers slammed in a door. *shudders* My hands hurt just thinking about it.

My other big fear is that one day I'll wake up and realize I'm stupid. I can only hope that will never happen.

A slow, painful death. I suppose that includes being buried alive by definition.

[edit] Ladybug has something there, dying unloved would be monstrous.

My biggest fear is having fear.

Fear is the biggest pitfall in life. It can be traced to the source of hatred, bigotry, and violence. And it is the biggest barrier to success.

To be ordinary. I sounds like a cheesy fear, but you have no idea how much it scares me. I've planned my life to be exciting and adventurous, but what if it's not?

What if I become a stay at home mom?

What if I settle for St. Louis and not New York City?

What if I'm all talk?

What if I'm just another dreamer who doesn't take action?

What if?
