I was about 17 years old, and I just met this couple that got married not long before I met them. The girl looked a little confused, and she said she had a different idea about marriage, and that the communication wasn't like she expected it to be.
I said: I don't know how's like to be married, but I have an idea about what should work.
Make your mate your best friend, and don't let anyone say anything to you about him if he is not around. In other words don't let anyone get in between you two.
Later... in about 5 years down the road, she called me and said that she is still going by what I said to her then, and that it saved her marriage... SO I guess I was pretty good back then. haha!

Not to fear darkness or put all your hope in light.
Darkness is uncertainty, and we fear it because it could contain our worst fears. But people forget that it could also contain our grandest dreams.
And light is certainty. There is nothing to fear. But there is no room to grow.
The only way to live happily is to ofind a balance between the safety of light and the risk of darkness; one or the other causes you to gamble too much, or to win nothing. We have to confront what we don't know, and cannot ignore the possibility of there being more to the world then we thought.
Make what you will of all that...
