im looking in getting a kawasaki Ninja 250R, and im curious to know the good things about owning one (gas mileage, faster to get place to place, etc), and what are some bad things about owning them (not including the fact that one mistake can be your last one)?
thank you all for the answers!

First thats a great bike to start with. My brother is a bike instructor and thats what he uses for all his students.
Pros: Great gas millage (65-70mpg), parking is a breeze, you never wait on traffic, minimal maintenance, cheap parts and insurance is cheap.
Cons: No use in the winter or bad weather, easy to steal, cant travel long distances (get tired quick), others on the road have no respect for bikers and of course no room for mistakes.

A 250 Ninja isn't gonna be the noob killer that its larger siblings are. It's a beginner bike that looks the same as a racing bike to chicks...cool.

No huge con here except maybe insurance and all the plastic that is gonna need replaced if you lay it down. Personally I would advise a duel-sport as a first bike. Riding off road is big fun and you learn alot about riding a bike from riding off road and pushing the edge farther than it would be wise to do riding amongst the public on a street.

Great Choice in bikes.

1.The Ninja 250R get's about 70 miles per gallon and it fast.

2.Insurance is cheap through Progressive, just get liability on it.

3.The only bad thing about a sport bike is, your butt get sore on long rides, but the easy fix it, get a gel seat.

4.Here is a link with a cool story about that bike.

The sport bike riding position is difficult position to start out on the short bars make riding a little teetering & can be fatiguing on long rides. But once mastered it's alotta fun. Insurance can be steep. & it's a single rider bike. Don't expect your girlfriend to want to go anywhere with you on it.

Cons: Thinking that a motorcycle will get you there faster.
It's not true, we all follow the same laws on the road.
Those type of misconceptions are what kill.

good? they go fast.
bad? uncomfortable on longer rides, outrageous cost to insure, lead to some bad riding habits that get you killed or hurt, much higher death and injury rate than a cruiser.
