"Not even in a thousand years", perhaps when it was at its pique, but now there would be too much real opposition; and for those that say we have nuclear weapons...great, so does everyone else and guess what? should you launch they'll launch right back, so who'll win then?

Well this answer is complex, Yes and No.
With the United States allies Yes , but teh questionis would the USA's allies stand next to the country if it desides to take over the world one day?

No if the USAs allies turn on them

Major populated countrys like russia and China, and complex groups of nations (europe) would hold a major threat against the United States
Also most of the USA's supplies come from foriegn countrys, oil plastics and appliances (most US companys hold and share stocks or company holdings with/in foriegn countrys Walmart, Starbucks, McDonalds, many more)

But in other words the USA is the only standing Superpower left in the world. Also the USA has the the largest GDP ($13,770,309 m) in thwe world.
Yes the USA would stand as a huge threat, it is suspected that the USA has the most tech developed army in the world and stats show that for every US soldier it will take 5 enemy to kill (most stats taken from WW2), (example: 2000 marines raided a beach with 20,000 japs and successfully took the beach) But on the other hand China has alot more then 5 times the united states army
"The United States is widely regarded as the world's sole military superpower. But many experts expect China to challenge that status on the military front by early next century. Still Western analysts see little reason to fear from China's military:

Its 2.8 million-person army is the world's largest but is poorly trained and equipped.

Its 8,500 tanks are slow, small and out-of-date.

The 4,000 fighter planes in the Chinese air force are mostly from the 1960s and 1970s and lack modern avionics.

Its navy's 61 submarines and 54 surface ships are capable of little more than coastal patrols" <---CNN

one VS one the United States would have great odds of winning agaisnt any country in the world, also the USA has great political influince.

NO. This is not possible, especially now. Our economy is being torn apart from the inside out. Too many foriegn investors have a hand in some of largest corporations in the nation. How can a nation that is unstable within its own economy possibly take over the world much less another nation? If anything we are th ones being taken over.

No, not on their own.

However, they could create a series of situations and dilemmas that would force all the major governments around the world to come together and create a global government, enforced by a world police state. Which is what they are working towards currently.

No one could take over the world. It is too big, there are too many people, and too much space to cover. Even with modern technology, there is simply no way to control all the people all the time, and the multiple uprisings and magnitude of opposition would make it impossible accomplish, let alone sustain. It is tantamount to you going and trying to pick up the entire ocean. Give it a try sometime if you are bored. :-)

I hope not! The the whole world would be twice as messed up as it is now. For example, we are supposed to be richest country, yet there are homeless people sleeping outside in the cold a block down from the White House =[

No. If anyone takes over the world, it'll be Canada.

If someone like the US ever tried to attack us, we cut off all oil exports to that country, and then hold them off for a couple weeks before their economy folds. Then we go in and take over.

The United States could not. However, the men behind the curtains could, and they are... they will.

Can you see it happening now? The agenda for money? First we went into Afghanistan, then now we're still in Iraq, and later we will be going in to Iran. History is always doomed to repeat itself.

Once there is a one world government, it won't be the United States anymore. I don't know what it'll be, but the men or man in charge will be one of the men who have been waiting for that moment all his life.

that and your army while being the largest is not the most highly trained and if you guys utterly FAILED to take over Vietnam what makes you think you'd succeed in this little venture

so no

please don't try

it would be silly

and embarrassing
