this is so funny.... I gave my grandson a Wii for Chanukah last week and we've been playing Wii Sports together since. I slam the heck out of that tennis ball, I punch like crazy when I'm boxing and feel like I'm really rolling that ball in bowling- I actually sweat! All the while, my grandson is simply flicking his wrist a little and getting the same results and good scores I am!!! I got the Wii thinking that at least it was interactive and we could all get a little exercise indoors during the winter, etc.... thankfully, all my grandkids are naturally perfectly thin!

I think Wii's will definitely help kids get "more active" (if you can even be active) while playing video games. The Wii is probably the best video game you can get a kid, because it doesn't have guns and gore, it incorporates team work, and really the whole family can be involved. But, as to losing weight, probably would be best to try something else like outdoor activities, team sports, or crunches/push-ups.

I play Tennis on the Wii while lying down. It looks funny, but it's a heck of a lot easier that way.

No, but putting down the video games, and going outside and being active will.
