Well dont worry they will tell you what they are going to do before they do it. basicly you go in change into a gown. The doc and nurse come in and they put you in stirips to do the pap smear. its very simple they insert (dont knwo that is is called) gadget so that they can open you slightly dont freak out it does not hurt, they use a cotton swab to take cells from inside you to check for various things. Its all over and done with in less than 2 minutes. Then they may do a breast exam, thats pretty self explanitory.
It always helped me to focus on something on the ceiling, sometimes they even have a poster or something up there you can focus on, make you less nervous. But like i said they will tell you what they are going to do before they do it. They are very profecional about it they do it for a living and its nothing to them. Good luck and you do need to go at least once a year for a pap and pelvic exam.

Well you can expect to go in and things at my gyno go in this order:
-pee in a cup
-then go in and weigh (the nurse asks questions like when was ur last period etc.) and sometimes they prick your finger to test for anemia
-go into the actual doctor's room and the doc will do a pap smear (you'll have to put on a gown) the pap smear only takes a second and kinda pinches you inside and then they are done.
-the doc may give you a breast exam
-you get dressed, pay your bill and head out
Don't worry..all women go through this! It's tough at first..my advice is if you trust your mom have her go in with you for your first visit. This may make it more comfortable for you. If you would prefer to be alone that's fine too. The last thing I'll tell you is that the doctor can't tell your mom anything you tell him. So if your sexually active etc. it's confidential. I know i was so nervous my first time. Don't worry Hun. When i go she ask me a bunch of questions and than see checks the lady parts. it really does not hurt, but can be a little uncomfortable. My gyno also checks my breast for lumps. I go see a female and that makes me feel more comfortable as well.

not a big deal! they just look at everything... stick a small object up in .. doesnt hurt.. might feel uncomfortable

i dont know im a guy but its probably less embarrassing then the doctor telling a guy to cough while he feels the testicles for cancer
