First let me start off, I am looking for litttle known songs, I am not talking about songs like Only the Lonely, Blue Bayou, Leah, Uptown, (Go, Go, GO) Down the Line, Candy Man, Sweet Dreams Baby, Mean Woman Blues, It's Over, and Oh, Pretty Woman. I am not looking for songs that you have seen on many cds, or songs that he has peformed live a lot of times, I am looking for some songs that you almost never hear of. Songs that you very rarely hear him sing, songs that don't appear on a lot of his cds like Rock House, and Goodnight. Those are the songs that I am looking for in this question, and please when you reply, please let me know why are picking this song as your favorite little known song. So I hope that everybody knows what I am looking for.

Interesting that an earlier post also mentioned "Shy Away", a sweet little song, practically a duet with his co-writer Bill Dees, I always liked it even if it had none of Roy's flights of vocal challenge like the hits. You can just see a fellow - a bit older, a bit more worldly than his paramour, trying to talk both himself and her out of a budding relationship; "I'm no good for you, Baby" and not being very convincing to either.

So many other artists covered "Unchained Melody" that Roy's version doesn't get noticed except by hardcore Orbison fans. (You might have to ignore, a bit, the 1960's-defining somewhat overwrought production)

"Blue Rain" was categorized as a "country" song and deserved way wider recognition; many think it could have eclipsed or at least equaled his earlier "Walk On"

"Mystery Girl" was the hit, but I think "You're The One" is the sleeper. And you'll not hear "In The Real World" played commercially...the emotion it can evoke...wow.

But, you asked for ONE favorite -- OK, mine is "Blue Rain"

Wow, there are so many I could list. How about "Almost", "After All", "Walk On", "Life Fades Away", "Say No More", "Lillian", "Inseparable"," Last Date" and many more that are so rare. One of my favorites is the "Black and White Night" live version of "The Comedians". I once heard Roy do a solo version live of "That Lovin You Feelin Again". If I have to pick one, it's probably "Walk On"

A few I like, other than his big hit stuff.
Almost 18 & Chicken hearted. Rather rockish.
"Mama" One of his ballads, explaining to his 'mama' that his woman had left him.
Also makes a brilliant job of "let the good times roll" & "Bye Bye Love"
