i have a red eared slider and shes laying at the bottom of her tank with her eyes closed and her legs sticking out. she wont move when i poke her or anything. her skin [not shell] has gotten a little bit pink. is she dead or hibernating. and if shes dead then how did she die? does pink mean she froze, starved, had a disease.. whatever?

As between the solutions stated, putting your turtles via hibernation whilst in captivity could properly be deadly fantastically in the event that they are feeding. i might advise you get your self a water heater and /slowly/ boost the temperature of the water, in line with probability as much as 50-fifty 5. Get a heat lamp going the place they bask. i might do away with the turtle that is on the backside and notice if he will wake to the two being ignored interior the room (in a secure moist field) or lay him in an inch of under luke heat water, not something too surprising!

A hibernating turtle means it is buried in mud in water about 40F. Yours is not hibernating, I'm afraid.

Pink can indicate blood poisoning, but there is not enough info to know anything here.

There is only a few ways to make sure your turtle is dead. But they all involve taking her to the vet. But it sounds like she is, but then again, it is winter...

Stop feeding her kleenex's! If he's on his back he probably can't turn over.
