Flowers. I never give a woman flowers because I do not want to set precedent. She will expect them again. Better just to show her from the get go what to expect from me than be some kind of fake @ss Romeo that is going to charm her in the beginning and then treat her like whatever later.
You know what, basically any gift that costs too much for that matter. The best gifts I've given were ones that didn't cost a lot, but took a lot of time for me to create; like a song, a painting, a card... things like that. Dropping a lot of money on a gift doesn't say half as much about what a person means to you as a project that you devote time and energy into.

Some slutty underwear for her: reminding her how much you want to have sex may be cuter in the throes of passion than when she has to open a gift that should tell something of you.
Some ridiculous sweater for him: at least, tell him that he could choose to not wear it when he hangs out with you, or he will feel forced to even if you just keep your mouth shut and smile
