hey just out of curiosity... can solar powers b made out of plastic?

People are working on building solar cells on plastic film. The idea is cheap flexible solar cells that can be used on house roofs, cars, etc. Some of these new solar cell materails are not based on Si but on CIGS (CuInGaSe2) and on CdTe. The idea of these new materails is that, even though there are not quite as efficient as Si at converting light to electricity, they will be cheaper to manufacture. If you are in the manufacturing business, it is not the cost per square foot as much as it is the cost per kilowatt.

Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics (PV), or indirectly using concentrated solar power (CSP). Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam.
