It was Charlie Rich, he was pretty drunk but I think in his opinion Denver wasn't country and had no right to be winning a country music award.

Charlie Rich, I didn't see it but heard that he was drunk and didn't think Denver was anything near country... Personally I think John Denver is an awesome country singer...
