JJW is a Texas import who has been active in Texas Music since the late 60s. He is known as a writer and performer across the country.
He wrote and made popular "Mr. Bojangles", sung and made popular the Ray Wiley Hubbard song, "Up Against the Wall, Red Neck Mother", Wrote "Little Bird", Performed Steve Fromholtz' "Man With the Big Hat", and scores of other very important songs.
I knew him in Houston in the 60s and 70s while he was a struggling artist. He was a contemporary of Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt.
His first Album was "Mr. Bojangles" and brought him to the public spotlight with his distinctive voice and laid back delivery. After many other albums, he is still going strong and is also promoting his son's music.
