this is off the top of my head, but I believe about 35 MILLION men served in WW2............so it would be a BIG web site!

the National Archive suggestions are very good....and Google and Yahoo search sometimes are quite amazing......try typing your grandfather's name into search and see what you get!

The sites I have seen are sketchy, but you can get information on veterans from the National Archives. I am attaching a link to their website.

It takes a while to get the material. They set a time frame of 30-60 days. It took just over 60 days for them to respond to a request I made for Civil War records. They did find it though, and they mailed a packet of military records to the person I did the request for. How much was it, you may ask? $17.00 including the copying and postage.

What they'll do is ask for a credit card number, but they won't charge the $17.00 fee until they complete the job.

They will need as complete information as you can gather. If you know his outfit, so much the better. The full name, city he came from, anything you can gather from relatives' memories or old letters will be helpful.

Good hunting.

The Pinoy could easily have welcomed the Japanese and would have had it a lot easier. They didn't. They answered to call of America to fight the fascists everywhere. More than you know made it to europe. They fought and sacrificed like true brave warriors. It''s a compliment that they are regarded as being as much a guerrilla fighter as the Apache. Totally dedicated to defending their homes. I feel great pride for them as fellow soldiers. When I go to the VA in Manila there are old Philippine hero's sitting there getting the same treatment and benefits as I get. America considers them as American hero's too. Why does America do this? To keep her promises and because these people deserve our respect. Why doesn't the Philippines do more. They forgot. They forgot what America did for the PI and what the Pinoy did for America. If you meet a Veteran of any war you should shake his hand and say Thank You.

The best way to find out what he did is contact the National Archive and request information on what his job and what unit he was in and then do a web search on that job and unit during WWII.

It would be impossible to find the names of every soldier who served in WWII. And it would be equally difficult to put them all together into one site, what with there being millions upon millions of soldiers. with a simple google search, however you can find a list of all Medal of honor recipients in the US from all eras. search for Congressional Medal of Honor society.

Sorry, such a website would violate their privacy.
