I think the real question is, why is a team that played for the ACC championship playing in the Champs bowl?
for example, BC beat Clemson, and was higher ranked, yet Clemson is going to a much better bowl (Chick-Fil-A, the old Peach Bowl). In fact lots of teams are going to better bowls than 14th ranked BC
Why? BC has the reputation of not "travelling" well. They don't bring a lot of fans to bowls. The big bowls don't want them. same reason Kansas and not Mizzou is going to the Orange Bowl.
The sooner you realize the Bowl season, and Division 1 college football is about the money, the better you understand it.

The Champs Sports Bowl is fifth on the Big Ten pecking order, so when Illinois got bumped up to the Rose Bowl, the CSB got the sixth pick from the Big Ten, which meant MSU, Purdue, or Indiana. MSU had beaten both, had won its last two, and had lost no game this season by less than 7 points.
By the way, don't be surprised if the Spartans pull off the upset. Boston College has faced almost no one with the running game MSU has, and the Spartans have a very good pass rush.

Absolutely not! MSU and BC don't even belong in the same state together let alone the same field. MSU has not been a good team in years. They did better this year but they are still not a good team, they're just not as bad as in previous years. BC is going to kill them and this game won't even be worth watching for anything other than a few laughs. UConn and MSU would have been more appropriate.

Sounds like BC got the same competition as BYU getting UCLA. Pitiful part is, BYU gets to play UCLA next season also, after playing them twice this year.
For BC and BYU, there is a catch 22 involved. If they win, they get no respect because they were supposed to win-but should they lose, then it sets them a few years back in the respect catagory....I personally think that if a team cant be a seven win team, they should NOT be in a bowl period.
