I think it's redundant because women are a gender, right?
I think it should simply be "Gender Studies." What do you think?

How can we get YA! to change the name?

I'm not trying to be original. I'm just pointing out what I think is an absurdity and I am interested in what other people have to say.

The forum was originally called "Women's Studies". This denoted an obvious gender bias due to the fact that 'Y/A!' was reluctant to provide the same facility for male contributors.
The word "Gender" was added so as to appease those of us who are a tad more egalitarian that most. The idea of combining "Gender" and "Women's Studies" serves a two fold point. Firstly it allows a non-gender specific intellectual intercourse between contributors, whilst at the same time broadening the scope and horizon of the forum, thus enhancing the quality of the debate and content.
In this world of simplistic dogma, sophist-like arguments, suppositious claims, specious statements and the rest of the regurgitated nonsense that comes with political correctness, it is both refreshing and reassuring to find the occasional oasis of honest, personal opinion based intellectual interaction that comes from being able to enter into a Q&A area with an open minded endeavor to communicate ideas accross a wide range of subjects, rather than be hamstrung with a compartmentalize, categorized and sanitized criteria.
Whilst we may not all choose to agree with each other, at least here we can speak our minds safe in the knowledge that we are free to do so......or to go elsewhere, if we like!

Even a seemingly minor correction like that takes time. There are various cascading changes that may need to take place. The database behind the server may need to ripple several changes when a category title changes, for example. The web pages all need to be tested (like any other software) as well. The correction has been made in the German section already. Think of it as a 'bug'; these things take time. Please be patient with Yahoo! Have an excellent Ostara everyone!

Universities use that Women's and Gender studies instead of just Gender studies for their classes too.

It is called Gender and Women's Studies because the feminists that have infested the Yahoo Answers management committee continue to lie to themselves that the name of the forum is fair.

Or course, lying to oneself is a common trait for feminists.

And it is a big issue, why? There are so many other issues related to women that can and should be addressed. Women, being women, they know who and what they are and any label or astigmatism associated therewith is just that. God Bless.
