You just don't understand that the rest of the free world has a bigger amount of compassion for living things than you do.

Yes, people in THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES eat dogs. Civilized countries do not. I'd prefer to live in a civilized country.

Pit Bulls kill because they're bred and trained for that. Who do you think breed them and trains them to enhance those traits? People like Michael Vick, that's who. What's going on in the world, that he would get less than 2 years for this? I personally think that pit bulls COULD have the aggression bred OUT of them, (and could have GOOD owners who really just wanted a nice pet) and we wouldn't have the problems we have with the breed.

You act like packs of them swarm out of the forest like feral dogs and attack things for no reason. Hello...it's PEOPLE who are to blame, and if nothing is done to stop them (such as punishing those who do this)...innocent babies will continue to be attacked...the breed will maintain the reputation it has, and innocent dogs will continue to be abused. It amazes me that you think forcing dogs to rip each other to pieces is okay...just because they're dogs.

First of all, for all the people saying people hunt soley for food; thats ridiculous no one is starving and going to die in the wilderness if they dont shoot down a freaking quail. Second of all. Michael Vick deserved to get punished, but not to the extent of 2 years (plus possibly more from the state). For christ sake the liberals who are campaigning for the end of this mans carreer are the same liberals who give child molestors a couple months in jail! Shows where the priorities are.

Why 23 months? Good question. I would like to know why he got off so lightly.

He broke the law. Dog fighting is illegal in Virginia I believe. He apparently arranged dog fights, apparently bet on those fights, and killed the dogs.

He most likely KILLED his NFL career as well because the ASPCA and PETA will be right there when he gets out. I can't see any football team signing him and having to deal with the protests.

You know why a**hole? Because he HURT and KILLED defenseless animals! That monster even had a rapestand in his home!!! Any person who committs those kinds of atrocities on a defenseless animal, is likely to committ them onto another person! He is a beast and 23 months is not nearly long enough for him to go to jail.
He killed poor, defenseless dogs... A person at least can fight back or run, but an animal whose already been hurt and bloodied in the "ring".... Dog fighting is beyond disgusting and horrible and I hope that by that monster going to prison others will be discouraged to continue such an atrocious act.

It's a sport to a lot of people, the same as football. It's very common and a lot of people don't think anything is wrong with it. I've been to several cockfights. When you think that one animal always dies and those animals only purpose is to fight to the death, then it is really cruel. They aren't human but they do have emotions. Besides, PETA and other animal rights groups came down on him. And the judge was an animal lover. Probably not a Falcons fan either.

Because I happen to like Dogs a lot. He admittedly killed 6 or 7 dogs because they werent too aggressive. He deserves to go to jail because of that and the illegal dog fighting operation he had going.

dogs are animals - humans are animals. Its unnacceptable to mistreat any living thing to the degree of what people who fight dogs do.Get your facts straight on dogfighting, before you say its ok, its not. eating animals is one thing, if they arent put through complete torture for their meat. and also, Pit bulls are not vicious, their jack *** owners are vicious, just like this michael vick. I hope his new boyfriend in prison treats him real good.

You obvisouly arent a dog owner. Since when is it okay to kill a dog for a sport that is illegal. I hope that you never own an animal especially a dog.

I'd guess that they gave him such a high sentence because it's a really high-profile case, and thus you're setting an example and getting the word out that "killing dogs is bad!"

Are you serious? Where's your heart? Your soul? Your sense of morality? Do you even know what's right or wrong? He is going to jail because he broke the law. Haven't you ever had a pet?
