I heard a crash so i ran in to see what the problem is and it was my bathroom light cover that goes over the light bulbs half of it was still attached to the light and the other half was laying on the floor there is no cracks on were it attaches at all that was still intact So what caused this to break?

nope nobody was in there all day i had been home maybe ten minutes before i heard the crash

Due to the heat than cold all the time. Metal and glass expand differently. Screws back off. Clips move and so on. Yes I have seen it many times. Some times it is floor vibrations if there are people walking on the upper floor.

Could be rapid thermal expansion of the piece that connects to the light!!

-Did you just get done in the bathroom?
-Does the light get hot?
-Did U take a shower or something?

It has to do with age and in a bathroom there is moisture. The parts connected where corroded with rust. It just rusted thru. Good to hear no one was hurt. Just replace light fixture.

your bulb might exceed the maximum wattage for the fixture
