In an article to be published Sunday in The New York Times, Huckabee, an ordained Southern Baptist minister, asks, "Don't Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers?"

Oh yes, I love it so.

Huckabee's attacks on Mormonism are, of course, factually accurate, but they are also irrelevant.

I don't care what any of the candidates think about some made-up guys who live in the sky. I don't care if the official label is Baptist, Muslim, Bahai, or Hindu. I want candidates who are smart, honest, and capable. I want candidates who will keep their silly superstitions out of the job and enact policy based on what's happening in THIS world. We are not supposed to believe in religious tests for office in this country - what's wrong with these people?!?

You've got to love his comments on AIDS patients. He's still "not sure" if HIV can be spread through casual contact such as touching (it cannot), or if the earth was created 6,000 years ago (try 4.5 billion).

The bible is his main source of insight when it comes to political issues. He still wants taxpayers to cover placing the ten commandments in public schools or paying for school vouchers to "Christian schools," and yet he states that he respects the freedom in the Bill of Rights and the importance of government remaining impartial to belief.

No word on Huckabee's brain, but I suspect it fled some time ago.

P.S. Love your avatar

His funadamentalism (if that's the right word) was going to haunt him sooner or later. If Huckabee does get the nomination, the Democrats will surely make his insensitive remarks a campaign issue.

When the conservative candidates try to use religion as an argument for voting for them they also open themselves to criticism on that subject.

What none of them have the balls to do is admit that they are capable of thinking for themself, have done so, and found no credible evidence of any gods.

Baptists pointing out that Mormonism is silly is a classic case of people who live in glass houses throwing stones.

Another wolf in sheeps clothing.

Huckabee is a lightweight. Could you imagine having a former Baptist Preacher as the President of the United States? I shudder at the thought of it.

IF politicians aren't shooting lawyers in the face, they're shooting themselves in the foot. Something like this was bound to happen.

It's a lot like when Bill Richardson a few months ago told Melissa Etheridge at the gay rights debate that he believed people chose to become gay.

Yes. I think we should fill a kiddy pool with oil and let the wrestle it out to prove which one loves Jesus more. I particularly liked the halfhearted apology.
