don't know the correct procedure... but this is how i figured that out... lets make up an imaginary amount of dirt they had to dig... hmm 1500kg of dirt sounds good to me. yikes thats alot!

so we can say;

the male digs 1500kg in 3 hrs
and femal does 1500kg in 5 hrs

male = 500kg per hour
female = 300kg per hour (now you can see why i chose 1500kg)

so the male and the female combined dig at (800kg per hour)

now we can know that to finish the hole, they need to dig 1500kg, so therefore 1500 / 800 = 1.875hours
1.875 = 1hr 52min 30seconds.



you could use any number and you'd get the same answer.. just that's an easy number to work with

but seriously... 3 hours.
