Well here is a list of a few that we use. Have used them as far away as 10 miles to connect to an outside access point. Just don't forget, WIFI is line of sight. (Doesn't mean you can see it, just means there aren't any hills, tall buildings, major obstacles in the direct path!)

inspect the area under. Use a PCMCIA card with an exterior antenna. Even extra powerful use a Linksys WRT54G with the DD-WRT firmware put in with an exterior antenna (i desire the cantenna) this could enable you placed up a router for you and your buddies, and the Cantenna selections up alerts from a a million/2 mile away. I used one at a similar time as I did a clerkship in Kansas, because of the fact the only intense speed information superhighway replaced into from the Super8 lodge. very nearly a a million/2 mile away. i'm no longer a broker, yet a real chuffed client. please no trolls.

Well, there are ways to turn your cell phone into a NIC. there are wans mans and lans that can work from miles away. There are lazer systems that can work from space. It all depends what you are talking about. You should be more clear. The only way to receveive far away wifi signals is to buy a high gain antenna for your NIC.

What you need is to get an Access point working in Access point client mode and attach a powerful antenna to it. like a yagi 14dbi antenna or a 14dbi panel antenna. With that you may pickup several networks from miles away.
