I need a specific time period, a week? Two?
This question applies to real/semi real jobs in which the advertiser says NO PHONE CALLS please.
I know they received my resume because I always get a resume recieved auto reply so that isn't the issue I just want to know where I have the best chance while I continue to search.

PS This question refers to the Metro DC area

(Sigh)
Of course I'm still sending out resumes but I 've had some places call within 24 hours and some within a two weeks. I was just looking for a quantified time period if say I was really interested in and qualified for the job. My reasoning is if they have an open or soon to be open position and have spent the money/time to place an ad they should at least call within a timely matter to schedule an interview. Lack of sufficient HR staff be damned when you have a hole in the dam you don't wait to fill it because you don't have enough residents you do your best with what you have to fill it

There is no specific time period. My experience is that some companies call in a couple of weeks. A lot of companies don't call for an interview for 4-6 weeks. One company took eight months from the time that I first applied to the time that they finally offered an interview.

Unfortunately, submitting a resume is no guarantee of getting an interview. Most HR departments are understaffed, so they only respond if they're seriously interested in interviewing you. It's not uncommon to get hundreds of resumes for one position, so only a very few get calls. You may have to send out a lot of resumes to get a few interviews.

Don't give up hope. However, keep applying for other jobs. Don't stop while you're waiting for a call from a prospective employer. It may never come.

You can send a follow up email , but i would take a look at the web site to find the name of the Human Resources director, and send the email directly to their attention, not the email address you originally sent the resume to.

Realisitically, it can take several weeks for a company to sort through the resumes they receive, and set up interviews. Sometimes they fill the position immediately, or it can take up to several months.

So I would not necessarily give up hope, i would continue to send out my resume to other positions of interest to increase my chances of obtaining a position.
