personally i like Rush, Neil Peart on the drums owns. Led Zeppelin has great driving force behind a good deal of their music, but i find the lyrics, for the most part shallow and just 'catchy', while Rush tends to have more songs with what i think has a deeper meaning (like Freewill) and songs like Xanadu add the driving force of LZ. my opinion. whats yours? feel free to yell at my views.

I would like the musical community to disregard anything Mitchie P says. He/She obviously knows very little of music, simple English, and society/culture. I'm pretty sure he said Rock wasn't Pop. Pop just means Popular music and rock my friends is damn popular, even if its not the classics. Unfortunately, artists like spears and others are included in the genre, too (which i suspect is where Satan came into play).

Zeppelin lyrics shallow?????????
Are You for real?
I love Rush too but gee, Zep lyrics are anything but shallow
Ever listen to "The Battle Of Evermore" or "The Rain Song"
Definitely the anthesis of shallow
And catchy??
"Tea For One" is catchy?
"The Lemon Song" Is catchy?
I must have missed something
And while we're at it. Bonham was the best drummer I have ever heard after Peart
I love both bands but Zep is clearly superior

That one guy brought up anothe great point
Alex Lifeson is good but Jimmy Page is a god

Fonzie brings up a good point too.
Zep was a huge influence on Rush (Rush's first album ring a bell?)
And Pagey IS a Rush Fan

I like them both, but Zeppelin has a much better batting average. Both solid musically, Rush may have a slight edge rhythmically, but they're also more pretensious. Both have high pitched vocals that occasionally grate, but no Zeppelin song ever made me cringe the way a song like "Rivendell" did. I don't find either band to be especially good lyricists, although I do agree that Freewill is certainly Rush's highpoint.
The final factor for me is Jimmy Page's amazing studio and production skills, unmatched in rock music, in my opinion. I'll give Rush credit for live playing, having seen them numerous times. Unfortunately, I never got to see Zeppelin live, but I have heard tapes and can admit they seemed to have off nights occasionally.

I absolutely love Led Zeppelin, but maybe somewhat biased as I don't really know Rush.

So I'm waiting to see what others think, and I may be looking into some new music!

I like them both, can't pick one over the other. Zeppelin broke up when I was in high school so I never got to see them live.

I saw Rush live twice in the early '80s for the moving pictures tour and the exit stage left tour.

There concerts were awesome both times.

PS: Hopefully Zep will tour the states in '08 and I can get a ticket.

Rush is awesome. I want to a party and somebody had Moving Pictures on the record player and I fell in love with them. I had just about every album or disc until Power Windows. (I kind of didn't like their sound after that. Geddy is a total master of the bass and Neal Peart is awesome.

Zepplin though has got a better singer and guitarist. (Alex is a great guitarist but nowhere near Jimmy.) I think Zepplin has more of a blues influence in their songs and I tend to like their music more now.

I have to go with Zepplin though. Maybe if they lasted longer and started putting out mediocre albums I would feel differently.

I agree w/ what you say! But my choice would still be Led Zeppelin.
I grew up listening to LZ b/c both my parents loved them!
And maybe that makes me biased but who knows.
How you say LZ just has catchy lyrics..Not all of there music is like that. Some songs yes..especially the ones the radio plays nonstop like Stairway to heaven..and The Immigrant song..lol but songs From Presence and Physicall Graffiti are definitlely different from the rest of there music...
I love Led Zeppeling b/c their guitar parts are just ...awesome..Like for someone to have that cool of an imagination to create that..is like wow!.lol and they have lots of meaningful songs too. whenever I here a led zep song it just automatically puts me in a good mood! If I were to ever see them play live I would probably cry hahaha...
I saw a tribute band..but obviously its not the same! I hope they end up doing a tour next year! that would be great!!!!

I like rush too! they are probably just as good as LZ but i Like LZ better! sorry..lol

Led Zeppelin is the best band in the whole world! Especially the reunion concert a few nights ago in England.. I heard it was phenomenal I really wish I coulda been there. But anyways, I'm sure Rush has a few songs that are deep but if you truly listen to the lyrics in Zep there has to be a personal meaning, I also think that the rhythm has a meaning and for me when I listen to Zep I get really happy cause most of their songs have that uplifting kind of sound.
so there you go, there's my opinion and I'm sorry if you get confused. :D

Neil Peart was badass but Led Zeppelin is much better in my opinion as a band.

i like zeppelin better but they are both some of the best bands of all time.......

rush has a more progressive feel to it, and zeppelin goes a lil more to hard rock side. But I think Zeppelin with Rush coming right behind it by like .02 so its very close.

I love Rush. I agree with pretty much all of the above. Led Zeppelin are great, but Rush are just incredible.
