... uh... i always wondering, why the hell is Athena worshipped as a goddess, while Medusa is considered a villain, or monster?

i mean, according to what i've read, Athena is the one that turn medusa's hair into serpent. ... so, therefore Athena is the real b#tchy villain behind all these petrify/stonize murder crimes. And, just why and how the heck would people still worship such cold-blooded woman with personal clash!?

i personally feel sorry for Medusa, and i consider her a victim of Athena and Perseus' criminal/bullish acts. (but, surpprisingly, so far, no-one seem to agree with my point. >_<.)

Anyhey, does anyone know if there's any story/mythology, which consider the evil bunch like athena, perseus and zeus the villains? (really, athena sounds like a b#tch, perseus sounds like a perverted hitman. and, obviously, zeus and many Greek gods/goddesses scare the hell out of me. =_=. )

I agree with you that Athena was being bitchy. If she had wanted to get back at Poseidon she should have gone directly to the source, not involved an innocent victim.

Sadly this theme is frequent among the Greek Myths often viewed via Hera and Zeus's battle for marital bliss. Zeus and his daughter are asses.

Athena was worshipped as a goddess because she was the child of two gods (Zeus and Metis), and as such had their power (according to the myths surrounding her).

Medusa began life as either a beautiful human woman or a beautiful nymph. She was never recognized as a goddess, because she never had any creation power. Athena changed her appearance to match her rage after she (Medusa) was raped by Posideon in Athena's temple. With the power to turn men to stone, she could (almost) never be harmed by a man again. Unfortunately, she used her power for evil, and had to be taken out. Athena sent Perseus to do the job. Medusa's two "children" are counted as Pegasus (the winged horse) and the giant Chrysaor, concieved at her rape by Posideon and born out of her severed neck. Both of her children were considered good!

background: Poseidon and Athena are enemies b/c Athena had Zeus's favor or something. Medusa used to be beautiful.

Poseidon, in an act of disrespect, had sex with Medusa in one of Athena's temples. so Athena turned Medusa into an ugly hag. i don't htink she had the power to do anything to Poseidon.

so Athena's bitchy act was justified.
