The amp doesn't get affected by that. In any case, one or more of the 4 twelve inch speakers in your cabinet could be affected by excesive distortion with the amp on top volume. But before you reach to that suspicion, check the equalization in your guitar and the amp and make sure you're not hearing a different setup. If you have the same exact EQ as before in both amp and guitar, then check the speakers.

Yes! Your bass amp speaker cone isn't designed to have a guitar played through it. It is made to process much lower tones. Adding to that potential damage with a distortion pedal specifiacally designed for guitar is a twisted idea.

No, not at all. The bass amp can handle anything you throw at it. I use to put my guitar through a bass amp because I liked the more mellow sound.
The distortion pedal will not ruin your speaker.

Maybe if you turn it up too loud. Keep the volume down and you should be OK. Bass amps don't have the right frequency range for guitar. If your amplifier is a tube amplifier it might be able to "take it" better.

stacks of professional guitarists play and record through bass combo's, amps and cabs. it does depend on the amp. if you feel it is pushing it then dont do it.

a far better idea than plugging a bass into a guitar amp though
