Mine would be two senior citizens. The first would be Harlan Sanders who created what became known as Kentucky Fried Chicken. Another remains nameless to me. But, he attended a party and ate some dip that was seasoned with Cayenne Pepper oil. After his stomach recovered he began experimenting with the oil, adding it to paint used for boats and ships. Eventually he developed a boat and ship paint which repelled barnacles and became a multi-millionaire late in life.

I'd say Bill Gates. He started with nothing, has done nothing (except steal other companies software) built his company into a great monopoly and is now considered the richest man alive.

Is Oprah considered one? If so, she started out with very little and became one of the richest women of our time. She certainly paid her dues working her way through the entertainment industry.
