I see the Wreckin' Ball has credit for two goals tonight. Think he's sending a message?
Ever noticed how many players debut is a hail of bullets followed by a sudden period of deafening silence?
Is Recchi's debut the sign of good things to come or will he fall back into old habits?

It's as Christmasy as I'll get. I figured considering I'm the grumpy old man here I should have an avatar to match. No worries, I just gave Bobby time off until the new year.

Bill: They call Mr Grumpy at work because I'm usually kicking some idiot in the butt who seems to desparately need it. At least they show some respect in calling me MR. Why is there no spell check in the Add Details windows? Who took the spell check? Holy crap, what's wrong with you people? Bring that back here!

Hey Puck, I can make you work for the "grumpy old man" title.

The ball and chain don't call me Mr. Sunshine for nothing.

Therrien hasn't had a nice couple of days lately. I love it.

As for Rex, I hope he has a great year. Not to spite the Pens, but to offset the ignomy of wearing those Thrashers pajamas.

Eh, if Ray Shero had any faith in Recchi, he still would have been there. If Recchi not only put up points, but played better, (did you see him some nights, even on the 1st line??) he still would have been a Penguin. Therrien took A LOT of criticism from fans and media alike for scratching younger players who deserved chances for Recchi who wasn't doing so great. A writer for one of Pittsburgh's 2 big papers actually said on Mark Madden's ESNP radioshow that he talked to "a player" who said some of the young guys felt like Therrien had double-standards when it came to the older guys. He was playing the older guys and they weren't doing anything better than the younger guys who were scratched. Of course, I don't care for Madden and I don't believe the media every time they hear something from "a player". It didn't seem like things were working out for Rex here in Pittsburgh though...

I wish Rex all the best. I don't know how well he'll do in Atlanta, but I do know that he's still a good hockey player (not to mention... a future HOFer!). Maybe going somewhere new and having something to prove is the spark he needed to play up to his standards another season. Maybe this was just a glimpse of the initial spark, and he'll fizzle out eventually.

PUCK - Oh yeah, and I love your Grinch avatar. :)

Believe it or not, I'm buying Mark Recchi in Atlanta. A fresh start was what this veteran needed, and this is only the beginning for Recchi.

I think Recchi provides a lot of things to the Thrashers that they don't have right now (a guy who can score AND speak English) and I think that means his stay there should be a productive one.

Even makes me further question his character, as if I haven't been questioning it already.
Could be coincidence or it could be that he was dogging it in Pittsburgh. If it is the latter, I am losing even more respect for him. Great teammate eh? No wonder they shipped his butt out of town. Who wants a teammate that quits on them? (If that is, which very well could be, the case)
