Okay, I am a junior in high school right now and I took some few extra classes in a Community College (LACC) over the vacations i had during high school. The classes I took were Music 101 (got a B), Psychology 101(got a B), Antropology(B), History US(A), Physics Fundamentals (B), and here comes the bad part... Political Science (got a F!), Philosophy (got a D!). Im wondering how bad does this look if i send it to a decent University? and how badly will this effect my gpa? I am worried because I took these as extra classes but didnt do so good. Is it a good idea to retake the classes I got a D and F in?

sorry if this is hard to read

You don't have much choice but to send them to any university to which you apply, because if you try to hide it, they are likely to find out and you could be disqualified for giving incomplete data.

If these were extra classes unrelated to your high school requirements, then they may not affect your high school GPA, but of course the D and F won't look great. Did you take those two classes at the same time? It could just look like you had a rough time during that vacation.

As to whether these courses will help you in college, it depends on the requirements at the school you go to. I'm at LMU, and for us, the music, psychology, and Physics would count for the core (general education requirements). The history and philosophy might, depending on the course description. The anthro and poli sci aren't required here, so they would just count as electives, but if you think you could do much better the second time, then it might make sense to retake them.

Don't send in the D and F.
However, with the B's the college/university you send it to can take it in two ways.
One that the community college is probably easier than the university and that you might not be able to handle their classes.
Or they will think that a B is good and that you show good motivation and promise. I would ask your counselor, seriously. And maybe get some recommendations for your professors at the community college.

What does your counselor say?

Mine advised me to retake the classes I got poor grades in. I did and my GPA went up quite a bit. Plus the second time around, I was more prepared so they were much easier. Don't give yourself too heavy a schedule, go easy on yourself and you should do great.

As a junior in high school you are way ahead of schedule already! So congratulate yourself on what you have achieved so far... and for what you are soon to achieve in the future. :)

You're doing good!
