has your wife asked for jewlery or left a sales ad out with the page folded down, if the answer is no, NO you don't have to buy her jewlery but jewlery is a gift that never wears out. But I would suggest thinking back over the year and seeing if she has dropped hints about what she may want, but make it personal, no home appliances or such, an engraved keychain maybe with your names and date your were married, or fix her an album of photos of you and your family over the years, there are so many things you can do.. make a coupon book with little coupons that say, relax day.. I will do the dishes... or today is hug day, and every time you see her give her a big hug, anything that will make her smile and relax a bit. And there are gold covered roses now that I just adore, my hubby got me one last year for christmas and I loved it just as much as the piece of jewlery he did buy me. But if you have been married along time.. over 10 years have you thought about a forever ring.. its three diamonds, side by side that stand for today tomorrow and always, some call it an eternity ring, different names but it stands for the years you have devoted to one another..
my best to you and I can tell you that any woman will find a gift wonderful if her man chose it, wrapped it and gave it with love.. or she can return it and you will never know :)

Of course. It's wrong to stereotype women in general, though. Not all of us want jewelry. I'd much rather get a big screen TV or an ATV or something if you're going to spend that kind of money.

of course it's okay! Not everyone likes a lot of jewelry. Maybe a more unique gift would touch her heart more. It's suppose to be about the giving, not about what your receiving!

Yes! Why would you think that you HAVE to buy her jewelry? I am sure there are other things that she would love to have...
