I think that there is still a high level of prejudice in America against single mothers and their "illegitimate" children.

I've always thought that "illegitimate" is one of the nastiest things you could say about a child.

I think that working single moms are the backbone of America and deserve far more consideration than what they get.

Mitt Romney is actually the worst candidate as far as single moms are concerned.
I've actually seen him go off on rants about single mothers being "what's wrong with America"...

Funny how the "distant fathers" never share that burden....

But to be fair, I think it's also time to stop relying on divorced fathers to be the sole income in a split family... Too many dads are deprived of spending time with their kids but still have to foot the bill at the end of the day.

Good Question.

No offense, but why should the government "court" single mother? They are no different than married mothers. Sorry to be so blunt, but I think too many people out there think their situation should be important enough to be pandered to. Politicians should only run on the issues. Once they start courting, minorities, the elderly, the poor, the rich, big business, etc etc etc, ethics should be called into question. Every one in this nation should be treated equally. Once you start treat one group differently than another you are saying people are not equal and that is wrong. But if you want my opinion the Democrats pander most to those seeking entitlements.

In a sense, they probably do.

Assuming that most single mothers make less money than the average person and want a good education for their children, politicians pander by offering such ideas as higher taxes on the wealthy, universal health care, and improving education.

It's just that other groups also have an interest in these issues.

The whole democrat party courts the single mother vote, and they overwhelmingly vote democrat...until they get married and become stable with a husband instead of a government supporting them.

Many married Presidents seem to forget that they are married very nearly as quickly as they sit down their butts in the oval place of work. some are unswerving and dedicated to their better halves. i think of people who're no longer instruct a real loss of character. Kennedy and Clinton have been 2 good examples of a loss of character despite the fact that, in Clinton's case i will understand why he would desire to cheat on a HILLARY. He made the errors of marrying a woman who had to placed on his balls.

My guess would be that single mothers tend not to vote. There's no point in trying to persuade someone who's not going to vote anyway.
