All crimes are hate crimes. Racism exist because minorities want to throw the word around to explain every single thing that happens in life. Stack the deck in their favor to intimidate good honest people into giving into their position. Even the fact of creating stiffer penalties for "hate crimes" in itself is racist. Ever heard of a minority being convicted of a "hate crime" against someone other race??? Me neither. Political correctness is actually political incorrectness. Two wrongs don't make a right. And hearing people still talking about slavery and somehow pointing the finger on others is the real racism out there. People need to start speaking up, and stop allowing the minorities to sling the racism card every time something is not in their favor.

I think that all crime statistics are not accurate enough to get worked about them. They have error rates, under reporting, over reporting and can be influenced by a large number of factors including increases in law enforcement and media coverage.
Most "person" crimes are hate crimes. So one can't really tell if crime is on the rise simply by looking at a hate crime statistic.

I agree with Lawrence. I think the idea of a "hate crime" evidences the decline of our civilization for several reasons. I would never vote for anyone who uttered those words, by the way.

I don't think that "Hate Crime" should be a category of anything.. and certainly not tracked as such... When the government can declare your thoughts a crime we're in serious trouble.

The "hate crime" stats went up when they decided name calling should be counted the same as murder or assault.
(blaming everything on Bush should be a hate crime)

I think trying to decipher what someone was thinking while committing a crime is utterly ridiculous.
The term "hate crime" should be stricken from the language.

There is no such thing as a hate crime. How many people do you know killed someone because they loved them? No..people kill because of hate. They are all hate crimes!

...ahhhh....stats...interesting how we prefer to count the numbers instead of fixing the problems-everything I hav read seems to indicate that society moves both good and bad in the direction of it's leadership...as it started with G.W.
...ahhh....Washington that is...todays bad leadership of our country can only mean harder times and harder numbers in favor of the bad.
