I am going to a friends house and she has several hook ups for internet how can I contact my lap top so I can get my internet on my lap top?

You can either find a hotspot or get a internet card from your cell phone company, which works anywhere your cell phone works.

If you have a Wifi---when you Start it up, Windows will let you know if Wifi is available. Some Hotels have Wifi. I would take a ethernet cable with you--a lot of hotels make you use that. If you want if all the time--got to AT&T or Sprint get a card for your laptop. Like a cell phone plan.
Last resort---Old faitful dialup.

If you mean connect to the internet, you need to make sure wherever you stay has wireless internet access available and that your laptop is wireless capable. Then it is usually just a matter of turning it on. Sometimes they require a user name and password but they give that to you when you get your room.

You would need to be in a hotspot. Or, you can hook up your modem to your room telephone jack if one is available.
