Other than Stalin and Trotsky what other Revolutionary leaders can symbolize Napoleon, Snowball, or even Squealer.

Squealer represents the communist newspaper Pravda, which ironically means truth, but in reality is merely a vehicle for propaganda. Moses represented the Russian Orthodox Church.
Boxer the common workers. Napoleon truly can only be Stalin and Snowball, Trotsky. Frederick is Hitler and Pilkington the English prime minister. The dogs are the KGB. Old Major is either Lenin or more likely Marx.

I've always suspected that Orwell never really came clean about his meaning. Supposedly it's a satire of communism, but to me it has always registered as a portrayal of jews - who did in fact dominate communism until after WWII. So it could be both. But I do suspect he had jews at least partially in mind - an elect who presume their natural leadership as a given, hold themselves forth as a light unto the other animals, then slowly take over. But I don't know if Orwell was antijewish. Yet if you see the 1954 film today it's hard not to think of Palestine - or,in Orwell's time,Russia at the time of the Holodomar.
