I've been playing the electric guitar for about a year now, but everytime I bend a string it puts so much strain on my hands that it hurts. I tried losening up my joints and being very relaxed making sure I was not stiff but my hands are generally quite weak and its very hard for me to bend the strings with the control i want. I have to strain my whole arm so i can get the force to push the string up. I really have no muscle maybe thats why im having trouble?

If you have unexplained muscle weakness you need a nerve conduction study EMG/NCS..

Well im not a doctor nor am I qualified to make accesments so you shouldn't take any merit in my responce and should consult a doctor. Now for my responce. You might have tendonitis or carpal tunnel or something that is causing your hands to be soo weak. If there is pain and such and tingling. but if that isn't the cause and your hands are weak then maybe hand exercises and stretches can benefit you. Adios

DO YOU HAVE TROUBLE DOING BARR CHORDS? I DID AND STILL DO. IT MAY BE THAT YOU HAVE TO KEEP ON STRETCHING YOR MUSCLES AND TENDONS. MY STRUMMING HAND WOULD GET NUMB WHILE I WAS PLAYING. GOOD LUCK
