hi, i live in idaho. i was separated from my husband, and during that time i became pregnant. later he did letme come back and live in ourhome, but not as husband an wife, i filed for assistance, and they gave it to me, i did not lie on my application. after the baby was born i get a call from a welfare investigater, asking me if i lived with my husband, i said yes i do, but i live in a separate part of house., he told me he did believe me, i didnt hear anything from him till a year later. i finally found good job at a hospital, oh and also i went off assisitance after the baby was born. one day i was working and a man comes up and says hi michelle, ive decided that we can just forget all of this, and not go to court all you have to do is pay back half, of the 12,000.. my coworkers and boss were there, i was embarassed, and hurried and sined the paper to get him out of there. well i couldnt make the payment they turned it over to collection,now im being garnished, i canr make it .help

I guess you already know you should not sign an important document like that without conferring with an attorney. You should contact them, tell them you signed because the man intimidated you in front of your co-workers and boss. You should explain that you never lied on your application. You have the right to appeal decisions such as this and that should have been your first step. Make it your next step. Don't let them browbeat you, fight it. You will not have to pay if you can prove your case.

Refuse the payment and state that you were just forced to sign the document because of the situation at that time.
