I'll be traveling from Chicago to London Heathrow (I believe on Terminal 3) and I will have to arrange transportations to Gatwick and then, from Gatwick to Venice.
Is there anybody there that did the same flight/itinerary and can tell me where and which transportation I'm supposed to look for?!
They told me I'm arriving on Terminal 3 in London, but they couldn't tell me wich Terminal I'm supposed to go in Gatwick, because I'll be switching from American Airline to British Airline!
Help please...thanks.

This is the advice from the Gatwick website:

"By Coach
Heathrow – Gatwick
The National Express 700 runs every 15-20 minutes in the morning, from outside Terminals 1, 3 and 4. It takes approximately 70 minutes to Gatwick's North and South Terminals. The cost is £17.50. After 12:00 the service operates every 30 minutes until 22:30. Tickets can be purchased at the Bus and Coach information desks located in Terminals 1, 3 and 4 or on the bus itself; subject to availability. The coaches pick up and set down at the Central Bus Station (Terminals 1, 2 and 3). For Termianl 4 coaches pick up on the arrivals level and set down at the departures level.

National Express coaches 707, 717, 727 and 797 also operate half hourly to Gatwick and the journey takes approximately 70 minutes. Coaches run from the central bus station at Heathrow for Terminals 1, 2 and 3 and from outside Terminal 4 arrivals. They set down outside Gatwick North and South Terminals. Adult fares are £17.50 single. Tickets can be purchased from the travel centre at the central bus station or from the Bus and Coach information desk on the forecourt of Terminal 4 arrivals.

By Train
Heathrow – Gatwick
The Gatwick Express departs every 15 minutes from London Victoria station and takes just 30 minutes to Gatwick South Terminal. Passengers requiring the North Terminal should take the free transit between terminals, which is just upstairs from the train platforms. Gatwick Express trains, from the airport to Victoria station, also depart at 15 minute intervals and have a journey time of 30 minutes.

The Heathrow Express departs from Paddington and the airport stations (Terminals 1, 2 and 3 and Terminal 4) every 15 minutes, with a journey time of 15 minutes. Heathrow Connect services operate between the same stations, but run half hourly and are a slower, stopping service. Passengers can also travel to and from Heathrow Airport and the centre of London on the Piccadilly line tube. Passengers can travel between Victoria and Paddington stations by bus, tube or taxi."

The only reasonable mode is the express coach. Times and fares can be discovered here http://www.nationalexpress.com/ and helpfully, if you turn up for a coach before the one booked National Express will take you if there is space available.

If you plan to route back the same way from Gatwick North to Heathrow T3 buy a return coach ticket, it will be much cheaper than two singles. If you don't know your flight's arrival time into Gatwick choose an "open return" ticket.

Allow 8 minutes to walk Heathrow Terminal 3 to Heathrow Central bus station, all under cover, allow 25 minutes if you wish to buy a coach ticket there, allow 12 minutes walk from Gatwick Coach Station to check-in at North Terminal - most of this time will be spent on an automated and free transit vehicle. Some coaches call at North Terminal but don't assume it.

Your flight from Gatwick usually departs from the North Terminal. A list of airlines and their terminals is available at the Gatwick Airport website (www.gatwickairport.com).

There is bus service that operates between Heathrow and Gatwick. It is operated by National Express. Schedule and fare information is available at www.londontoolkit.com.

I think there are a few options. Private taxi is one, but expensive probably. I think there are private shuttle servies too that are less expensive. The tube (subway) runs to Heathrow, but not Gatwick. I think you can take the tube into central London, transfer at a certain station (can't remember which one), and then take a different train to Gatwick. This would be time consuming, but more economical than a private taxi. Do some research on the Tripadvisor London forum board and you should be able to find more detailed info.

Heathrow to Gatwick services run 100 times a day so i wouldn't worry too much about delay. Just buy the ticket when you arrive. If the bus is full you can just wait for the next one. Since the ticket is non refundable, if your flight delay you bus ticket become useless btw check their website, i remember some bus company let you use the same ticket at no extra cost to travel on the next available bus, up to 60 minutes either side of your booked time.
