Oh yeah, most misdemeanors are fine (in some complexes, even felonies are ok sometimes).

Drinking underage is a misdemeanor, and I have never seen anyone denied for that... though some are different (assault, etc)

Depends on the nature of the misdemeanor. If it involved use of illegal substances, it may well present a problem. Landlords are not allowed to tolerate such usage on their premises, and may well deny a tenant on that basis.
