This will be my first job, as I've just turned fourteen, and I wanted to know what I'll be doing, and your experiances if you worked there.

In Maine the legal working age is 14, and my dad is friends with the assistant manager, it's not a thing of bias, but they hire mostly young kids.

I started at McDonalds when I was 14. I was really shy when I started, and it really forced me to come out of my shell because I had to talk with co-workers and customers. At first, I was overwhelmed, since it was my first job, and i wasn't really trained properly on till. But once I got the hang of it, it was ok. After a little while I really started to enjoy it. I got promoted after about six months to team leader. Then, the managers changed, and I got extremely frustrated becuase the new manager wouldn't (or couldn't) run the store properly and the owners didn't do much either. So, in September, I changed to a new store. It's run much better and I love working there!
So, yah...I'm assuming you'll be working front counter since I think you have to be 15 or 16 to make burgers. You may also be taking orders in drive-thru(that rarely happens on the first shift) or bagging orders, or passing out orders, or making fried (don't be afraid to scoop the fries hard---they won't get hurt!! lol)So basically, don't get overwhelmed...it'll seem like a lot at first, but you'll catch on soon. And if a customer yells at you, don't take it personally. Most of the time, the customers aren't really mad at you directly, anyway. Try your best to be friendly to the customers, cuz then they're way friendlier. So, that's about it...
If you work hard, show up on time, learn your job, and maybe even work extra, you might get promoted. At the McDonalds I work at, a kid started there when he was 14, and now he's 19 and manages his own store!!!

Good Luck!!!

:)

I worked there for a year in high school. At the time I hated it, but now that I have a career, I miss the simpleness of it, and I got to work with all my friends.

You will either work in the drive-thru taking orders and giving food, the counter doing the same, in the grill, which was my fav, cause you didnt have to deal with the customers, that can be rude; or you will work the fry-hopper and make the fries, which is hot and sucks.

Its easy once you get the hang of it, it can be stressful, but as long as you tell yourself that its just fast food, and make the most of it, its not so bad.

Oh and try not to eat more of it cause you work there. I made grilled cheese sandwiches with the buns and cheese to avoid all the weight gain that most mcdonalds employees gain because you get the food for free or at a discount.

i have never worked in mcdonalds but i imagine u would be on the tills as i dnt think tht they would have the insurance to let u operate the fryers ect here u need to be 16 before u gt ur insurance number to gt a job (unless its like a paper round) so maybe its different where u live. Maybe u will just have to do general duties like cleaning the tables and helping customers

hope tht spiel was of some use

14? Well, I don't think you will be using anything sharp, such as a knife.
I was a manager at Boston Market and we never hired anyone under the age of 16. 18 and then you were aloud to use a knife.
I don't know how you could have gotten this job.
Did you ask during your interview what your job description was/is?
Does your new employer know that you are 14?

I just don't know why you want to work at McDonald's. Why don't you spend that time learning or studying something you want to do at college. The only good thing about working at McDonald's is that you might realize at a very early age that if you don't study then this could be your job for the rest of your life.

first off, they'll give you simple tasks such as: mopping, brooming, cleaning off the tables and washrooms. Then, they'll slowly move you to the hot food. As you get the hang of that they'll ask you to go behind the cashier ( on a slow day )....then, once you've mastered that you'll be an all arounder.
