MSNBC

"MSNBC.com identified 143 journalists who made political contributions from 2004 through the start of the 2008 campaign, according to the public records of the Federal Election Commission. Most of the newsroom checkbooks leaned to the left: 125 journalists gave to Democrats and liberal causes. Only 16 gave to Republicans. Two gave to both parties.
The pattern of donations, with nearly nine out of 10 giving to Democratic candidates and causes, appears to confirm a leftward tilt in newsrooms ."

Doesn't frighten me since it just validates what we all know, but don't talk about.

What frightens me is that journalists are supposed to be 'neutral' and are self described unbiased... let they lean so far to the left they don't even realize it...

Just watch Fox news and you'll be okay.

Despite being left leaning many journalists still repress negative stories about Republican politicians anyway so I don't think the whole "liberal" news media thing is really very valid.

Example: George Bush had a White House staffer change an EPA report on air quality in NYC after 9/11. It made it look like it was safe for people at ground zero. It wasn't. Many fireman have developed severe respiratory problems. The only news agency that reported it near when it happened was PBS (who I will grant you are liberal). It was not covered by anyone else until this summer (Katie Couric) despite how ill people were. And when Katie Couric did cover it she tried to shy away from the President/White House's culpability (just mentioned the report change very briefly) and blame the EPA! The EPA tried to report it in the first place...

No--it does not frighten me. Most journalists--either way, makea good faith effort to get their facts straight. ALL have their own opinions and interpretations--wich is inevitable. And not a problem as long as the journalist is honest abut that part.

But this isn't really an issue anyway--mainly because this isn't new--its been that way for as long as anyone has records to track the data (at least a century).

Now heres a REAL question for you: why are there so few conservatives in the journalistic professions?

Hmmmmmm???????????

Newsrooms are not controlled by journalists, but by their corporate employers. And they contribute overwhelmingly to the Republicans. Which to me confirms a rightward tilt in the output of news organisations.

I'm not necessarily frightened by it, I do find it interesting the bias has become so blatant. It's not just the media bias though, it's the open hatred people show for one another. I think I find the latter far more frightening, there don't seem to be boundaries anymore. Thanks for the question.

it's the conservative backlash.

the cons have dealt the media one illogical defeat after another.

the press will remember little things like how dan rather got his career ruined for reporting a story, which not a single person said was false.

i think the blowback will be devastating in the upcoming election.

once larry flint outs a few more of the connie hypocrites, i think the media will really move in for the kill.

one can only hope.

but cons shouldn't start fights that they aren't equipped to finish...

Most journalist are rather stupid. When is the last time you saw or hear they ever got a story right. Just because they've been to school to learn how to write, it does not mean they were able to learn anything else.
