Many people do not like the kinds of responses they get in the religion section, so they come here.
What they fail to address is how this section will be any different if they ALL come here...

I don't think religious people answer stuff appropriately, hence the need for people to resort to this section. Also, I for once find it extremely entertaining to see other peoples opinions on matters that either I believe or like.
Philosophy can provide more "humane" answers to a lot of questions that religion will merely answer by making metaphors to the bible and directing you to a verse or some other thing.
But i guess the single based reason is people just want another opinion, much like going to a second doctor to corroborate stuff.

I often ask that very question. I continually see all manner of questions better suited to the Social Science forums posted here. I guess they don't appreciate our "purist" focus here.
But to answer your question directly, many times religion and ethics are paired together such as college studies and in the media. This may lead people to believe that their religious inquiries would be best answered here.

I reported no longer something incorrect so then I went after the poster. stupid crap, stop banning mr for calling "human beings" monkeys. it extremely is a shame and that i'm good, sone "human beings" look like monkeys good? Thank you for asking, fellow victim.
They really don' know the difference between "philos-sophia"--love of widsom and "religio"--whispered instructions supposedly coming from a categorically different and therefore an Earth-irrelevant zone of infallibles.
Because they can prove nothing, they like to spout off about their myths and beliefs.
They can't stop themselves from interfering with and annoying and poisoning the lives of realists, who are much more intelligent usually and supposed to be willing to leave others alone.

umm...because there is no proof for or against religion, therefore all religions are just philosophies.
Also, answers in this section tend to be well thought out.
Not this one, so much, but most others are.

I think philosophy has alot to do with abstract ideas and theories, and religion whether we want to believe it or not is a rather abstract theory.
