i found out that my daughter had been deprived of oxygen when she started having seizures shortly after birth. she is doing very well now (at 6 months old) and i am wondering if it is reasonable to have hope that she will be able to live a completely normal life

I survive happily these days on 6 hrs a day in three two hour "little sleeps" throughout the day. Two hours seems to complete a full sleep cycle for me. I have to do it this way to accommodate my pain and the length of time it takes for a mega dose of pot to wear off. Before my accident I called a normal night 6 uninterrupted hours from 10PM-4AM. I was working physical labor but would stop caffeine at noon and no booze after 8. I think if you force some exercise into your busy schedule the sleep will sort itself out. I also think you can improve the quality of your sleep by appreciating the little bit you do get more. Remember - It could be worse.

Depends on how bad and how long the deprivation was.

They should be doing MRI's or CTscans on her every few months, or atleast once a year to monitor her brain function (if it was serious deprivation). So long as she didnt lose many cells her brain will actually, and should actually, retrain itself to function normally.

Honestly, since we dont know how severe it is in your question, I would talk to your doctor about it. If she's doing very well and seems to be developing in line with her peers then it would be safe to assume she'll be just like every other child and adult.

My neice was really bad at birth and she is now 9 months and is hitting her milestones. Is she hitting milestones? that's a good indicator of her having problems.
